Q: How do I decide what to transfer with Easy Transfer?
A: You can transfer everything from all users or from your user account only, or you can make a custom selection of which files and settings to transfer.
- Everything. To set up your new computer like your old one and transfer all of the files and settings for every user, choose Everything-All user accounts, files, and settings. This option transfers everything that is compatible with your new computer. You must have an administrator account on your computer and be logged on as an administrator to use this option.
- Only my user account, files, and settings. If you will be the only user on your new computer, or if you will be creating user accounts on your new computer and not using the accounts on your old computer, choose Only my user account, files, and settings. Only the files and settings associated with your user account are transferred.
- Custom. If you want to transfer particular files and settings to your new computer, choose this option. However, because a computer holds thousands of files, going through the entire list of files and settings can be confusing. If you choose Custom, make sure to include all the files you want to transfer, such as family pictures or your favorite music.
